SATs This Week!

Good morning Seahawk Nation,

Happy first day of spring! We hope you had a nice weekend. Here is what is happening in and around the DMA campus:

  • We are scheduled to begin laying down the new Parade Field this week. We expect this piece of the project will take us into mid to late April and the light poles should be erected concurrently in this same period. Finally, we arrive at the final stage of pouring the new synthetic track.  We expect this project to be completed somewhere in the neighborhood in early May.  We hope our cadets and families appreciate and enjoy the latest renovation to the DMA campus.  We fully expect this project to not only meet but also exceed expectations.
  • There will be a Junior Future Planning Workshop this evening called “Choose Your Own Path ~ Post-Secondary Options” at 6:30 pm in the Mess Hall. The workshop is presented by Stand By Me and is open to all juniors and their parents. We hope to see you there.
  • Balfour will be here on Thursday (during lunch) to collect final payments for the junior rings. A postcard should have been sent by Balfour with the final payment amount last week. If you still have questions about how much you owe or want to make a payment by phone, please contact Balfour directly at 856-786-1110 or by email at balfournj@comcast.net. We look forward to seeing all our ring recipients on April 4th for the ceremony.
  • Reminder! Cadets are to go to the nurse if they are not feeling well. Parents will be called, if needed. Cadets should not be texting or calling parents from class to pick them up. If your cadet texts you to pick up, please tell them to go to the nurse.
  • The DMA Drill Team competed in the Rancocas Valley Regional High School Drill Meet this past Saturday. Sixteen JROTC Units from Delaware, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania participated in this competition with the following results:
    • Freshman Squad Drill – 2nd place
    • Varsity Unarmed Platoon Drill – 3rd place
    • Academics – 2nd place
    • DMA Drill Team overall – 3rd place
  • On Friday, March 17th, the Delaware Military Academy took 30 of our cadets to Annapolis to visit the US Naval Academy. We attended an admissions brief, toured the campus and went to a baseball game to watch one of our alums play for the Naval Academy. The cadets were fantastic and hopefully this visit will help them decide if they would like to attend USNA in the future. A special thanks to Josh Gutzmirtl, a 2022 graduate of DMA, who met our group in Annapolis during his Spring Break to talk about the program and opportunities at USNA.
  • SAT Exams: Wednesday, March 22nd
    • All 11th grade cadets will be taking the SAT on Wednesday.
    • Before the exam, it is important to see Mr. Grant if there is any issue with their Chromebook.
    • The PTA will be providing cadets with small snacks in the Mess Hall the morning of testing.  Please arrive on campus with plenty of time so that you are able to get your snack and report to your testing location promptly.  Snacks will not be available once cadets are dismissed from the Mess Hall at regular time.
    • Testing room assignments will be posted in the Mess Hall this week.
    • Tuesday night, be sure to charge your Chromebook and get a good night of sleep.
    • Wednesday, eat a good breakfast and plan to bring snacks and a drink to testing (you may enjoy it during a break).  Please plan to bring your school issued Chromebook, a College Board approved calculator, two #2 non mechanical pencils, and your Chromebook chargers (just in case).
    • Cadets may wear PT gear.
    • All cadets must sit for testing in its entirety, no early dismissals will be allowed.  If all goes well, I am planning for dismissal around 12:15 (this is subject to change if testing runs longer).
    • 9th, 10th and 12thgrade cadets will not be reporting to school on Wednesday.
  • Good luck to all of our spring sports athletes who will start the season this week. Congratulations to Carlos Mackall who participated in the Adidas indoor Nationals at Virginia Beach and took 5th place in the triple jump.

We hope you have a great week and as always, please let us know how we can assist your cadet here at DMA!

Kindly,
