Spring Break on the Horizon!

Good morning Seahawk Nation,

Welcome to the start of the fourth marking period and the last week before Spring Break!  Our cadets and staff certainly deserve a moment to catch their breath, as it has been a whirlwind of activity since winter break! Events and activities only pick up from here as we begin recognizing and celebrating all the accomplishments and accolades that took place throughout the year. Please keep a close eye on the Band and Commandants Corner so you do not miss anything!

Here is what we have happening this week:

  • NJROTC uniform note: Thursday April 6th will be the last day cadets are authorized to wear any type of sweatshirts or personal jackets over their Navy Service Uniform (NSU). When cadets return to school from Spring Break on April 17th, the only authorized outer garment they will be authorized to wear over the khaki shirt will be the RFJ or letterman jacket. Letterman jackets are authorized every day except inspection days.
  • Tuesday, April 4th is the Junior Ring Ceremony. The ceremony will begin promptly at 6:30pm in the Dome.
  • Third marking report cards will be distributed on Thursday April 6th.
  • Re-enrollment forms are due back this week. Please make this a priority so we can ensure we have an accurate count heading into the 23/24 school year.
  • Commandant’s Alert BAND App Notifications: If you signed up for Commandant’s Alert please make sure to turn Notifications ON for the group! Because of the number of members, notifications are automatically set to off, which means you will miss any urgent messages such as emergencies, cancelations or PT day announcements. The steps to fix this or check:  Open the BAND App, Click Commandant’s Alert, and Click the Gear in the bottom right. You should be in “My Settings” for the group.  Change “Push Notification” to ON (green) and Posts to “All” and it should work from then on!  Your device might prompt you to turn on push notifications for the entire BAND App, which you might also need to do, but that is specific to your device.

    • The Golf team lost to Salesianum 197-162 and Indian River 208-178. The team defeated Smyrna 215-208.

  • Attention all returning families: We are approaching the time of year when families start scheduling their school/sports physicals for the next school year. All cadets are required to get a physical regardless of playing a sport or not as it is a requirement for the NJROTC program. Please remember that we use the DIAA physical for sports and school physicals. To be valid for the 2023-2024 school year, the DIAA physical needs to be completed after April 1, 2023 and before the cadet’s sports season begins, but no later than 09/18/23to meet our NJROTC requirement. The NJROTC program requires cadets complete two additional forms before next school year, the Standard Release and Health Risk Screening Questionnaire, which can be found on the DMA website.

This Thursday, we are authoring a DMA Spirit wear for cadets and staff (inspection will be held Wednesday).  Jeans/appropriate shorts are authorized. You must be wearing DMA attire that is visible.  NO slippers or open toed shoes.  We hope you have a great week and an enjoyable Spring Break!

Kindly,
