Events

The DMA Events Calendar is a “tentative” schedule for planning purposes. The Commandant may have to change the dates of some events as necessary due to conditions caused by inclement weather and school days missed – and to meet the Department of Education’s regulations. Please review the Event Calendars weekly for possible changes.

Graduation

Date: Friday, June 4th, 2021
Time: 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm
Venue: Fusco Stadium

We are excited to be in the home stretch of your cadet’s high school experience! Please read important information about the event below!

Date: Friday, June 4th, 2021

  • Time: 6pm – 7:30pm
  • Uniform: Service Dress with Garrison Cap (to throw)
  • Venue: Fusco Stadium, DMA, 112 Middleboro Rd. Wilmington, DE 19804
  • Rain date: Saturday, June 5th (all other specifics remain the same)
  • Rehearsal: Mandatory for Seniors, 9am, June 4th, Casual attire, and groomed to DMA standards

Graduation Fee and Tickets:

  • Graduation Dues: $100
  • Tickets will not be sold for the event. Graduation Dues include 5 seats for parents/guardians to attend the event.
  • Please remit payment for the dues by clicking HERE.
  • Payments should be send to the main office, attention John Grant, in a sealed envelope, and checks should be made payable to DMA.

Event Guidelines:

  • Each graduate is allowed five guests for the event.
  • The graduate and two guests must ride in the same vehicle and can begin arriving at 5pm.
  • The graduate’s last name should be displayed in the car window for easy identification.
  • Guests will enter the second, stadium, entrance.
  • Parking spaces will be identified with a yard sign of the graduate alphabetically from the entrance lining the parking area.
  • Assigned seating will be clearly marked for both the graduate and the guests in the stands.
  • All attendees must wear a mask.
    • Graduates will be provided a new, Class of 2021, matching mask in socially distanced seat on the field, but still must wear one when entering.
  • Grooming regulations for cadets are in effect.
    • Wear your uniform one last time with pride and dignity, gentlemen make sure to get a haircut and shave, ladies hair secured off the collar.
  • For guests, dress code will be “country club casual” i.e. polo shirt, shorts are authorized.
  • It is recommended to bring small umbrella to stay shaded while waiting for the event and a personal water bottle.
  • Restroom Facilities will be open, but to be used sparingly  
  • Those needing special seating for wheelchairs should contact John Grant at their earliest convenience.

During Ceremony

  • Cadets should stay alert as they will be called to attention multiple times during the ceremony
  • Cadets will receive their diplomas in two groups both in alphabetical order, NHS cadets and then the rest of the class.
  • Process will be reviewed that morning at Rehearsal (9am)

Exiting the Event

  • Graduates will exit the field one at a time to maintain social distancing.
  • Guests should look for their cadet to exit and also exit the stands, maintaining distance from other guests and meeting their graduate at the stadium exit.
  • Parties should proceed directly to vehicles to exit the campus and take your cadet’s lawn sign to keep. 
  • Per COVID-19 restrictions families should refrain from picture taking or loitering in the parking lot and depart promptly.

Refunds

  • Cadets must meet all DMA graduation requirements and behavioral standards in order to participate in the Commencement Ceremony
  • In the event a Cadet does not meet these requirements they will not be allowed to participate and they will forfeit any payments made for the event.

DMA believes in giving back to the community and our surrounding neighborhoods through volunteering our time to those in need. DMA each year has continually found ways to participate and has been instrumental in various non-profit organizations.
