Wrestling Team Wins States!

Good morning Seahawk Nation,

We hope you all enjoyed the extended weekend.  Congratulations to DMA Wrestling who secured their first state championship by defeating three time state champions Caravel. Let this team serve as the blueprint of success.  Incredible coaching staff led by Head Coach LA Collier, senior leadership led by Tyler August, Drew Simpson, Danny Williams, Alyssa Mahan, Matt Avery and Erick Malmgren.  This team truly was together.  No egos, no drama, just hard working young men (and woman), who’s mission was to win a title and that is exactly what they did.  Cadets, we say it repeatedly – persistency, teamwork, discipline and a will to win will take you far in life.  We are all very proud of what this team has accomplished!  All the best in Conference and States!

Here is what has been happening around the DMA campus:

  • Last Friday we held assemblies. We did them a little different this semester. We did an all-boys assembly and an all-girls assembly. Reason being, we are experiencing some immaturity with our boys. Intentional damage in the heads, inappropriate drawings on the partitions, etc… just nonsense that is costly to fix and declasses what DMA represents.  We know it is a very small group that chooses to make these bad decisions, but we also know cadets know who is doing this and we want to get rid of that element here at DMA.  They simply do not belong here. As for the girls, they are having a banner year and we shared how proud we are of the success they are having.
  • The parade Field renovation is well underway! We have the base laid and should be laying the turf down in early March. Once the light poles are delivered and installed, we will pour the synthetic track. We would love for this project to be completed before the spring season is over. We will keep you updated on the progress!
  • The DMA Twenty Year Gala is May 20th at the Chase Center on the Riverfront! We are in the process of finalizing the invite and website to register. We have an amazing evening planned that you will not want to miss! We hope you can join us to recognize and celebrate our twentieth year of education in the First State.  More to come very soon!

Please refrain from scheduling appointments/events that conflict with exams.  Be sure to pay attention to the timing of events, as cadets must sit for the exams in their entirety.  Cadets will not be permitted to leave early for any reason, so please make arrangements with coaches, work, or other commitments ahead of time.
  • FREE CUSTOMIZED SAT/PSAT Practice: Cadets are able to link their College Board (the people who make the SAT/PSAT) and Khan Academy accounts! • Spring Exams: The SAT School Day assessment with essay for junior cadets is March 22nd. All juniors are required to participate in this assessment. There is no cost for this SAT exam and cadets will not need to register or sign up for this administration.  If a cadet wishes to take the SAT any additional time outside of this School Day administration, they will have to register through their College Board account.  DMA does not host other SAT administrations. The PSAT 10 will also be administered at DMA for 10th grade cadets on April 19th.  All 10th grade cadets are required to participate in this assessment.  Additional information will be distributed, as we get closer to the test administrations.

We hope you have a great week and please reach out if we can assist in any way!
