Battery Park Clean-up!

Good morning Seahawk Nation!

Cadets have a short week this week, (today and tomorrow).  This is an excellent opportunity to catch up on missed assignments and prepare for upcoming tests and quizzes.  Hopefully, they choose to use some of their free time to improve upon or better their academic standing.  Please review their HAC with them and ensure all assignments are completed.  Our teachers do an excellent job in keeping the system updated, and it is an easy way to monitor and reach out with any questions or concerns you may have.

  • We have been preparing for some big events on the horizon for DMA! We are very excited about this, and hope that you will share in our enthusiasm. The first one is this Friday night at halftime of the DMA home football game.  DMA will be inducting our first Hall of Fame Class and we invite all of you to join us in recognizing and celebrating our inductees. Please visit demilacad.org under the HOF tab to learn and read more about our HOF program, the Class of 2022, and how to nominate.
  • Saturday, October 15th from 9am-12pm is DMA’s Open House for the Class of 2027! We have an exciting Open House planned and we ask that you share this information on your social media platforms (attached to this newsletter). As you know, DMA is always looking for that well-rounded student who is looking for a challenge and believes in the mission of DMA… and that is, to prepare young men and women for their next level of education and to provide them with a foundation that leads to good citizenship. In addition, we will furnish them with a healthy mental and physical environment with military training as a requisite for a better understanding of the obligations of citizenship and self-discipline and to afford them opportunities for proper social activities and exposure to moral ideas.
  • Wednesday, October 12th is the 9thgrade- PSAT8/9 and PSAT-NMSQT testing for 11thgrade cadets who signed up. There will be no school for cadets who are not involved in testing.  For cadets involved in testing, morning buses will run at the normal times.  Testing will begin promptly at 7:30am.  Afternoon dismissal (TBD) will be at the conclusion of the exams.  Lunch will not be served on assessment day. Room assignments will be posted in the Mess Hall.  Cadets should review College Board’s approved calculator list at https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/sat/what-to-bring-do/calculator-policy
  • Bravo Zulu to the cadets who provided community service to the New Castle Sailing Club this weekend by cleaning up the waterfront around Battery Park. From the looks of it, they did an incredible job! Well done cadets!

We hope you have a great week and can join us at various events, as we continue to celebrate and recognize our twentieth year anniversary!

Kindly,
