Commencement Information is Ready

Good morning Seahawk Nation,

We hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable weekend. Congratulations to Senior Cadet Danny Williams who is Delaware’s State Champion at 138 pounds and to Sophomore cadet Cael “The Mountain” DeNigris who is the State Champion at heavyweight.  Overall a phenomenal year for the DMA wrestling team.  You should all be extremely proud of what you accomplished this season!

From the Music Department: Results are in, and we have two amazing musicians from the marching band representing DMA on the State Level!!  Freshman cadet Louis “Jade” Lopez auditioned and was accepted to this year’s All-State Junior Band on Trumpet and Junior cadet Mira Mistry auditioned and won the 1st chair spot on Euphonium for All-State Senior Band!  These cadets will represent DMA with other amazing high school musicians from across the state at the All-State Concert on March 25th, at Delaware State University.  Bravo Zulu, Cadets!

  • Now that winter is coming to an end, we will be back to regular uniforms on Mondays. However, we will still occasionally allow cadets to wear PT gear based on how well they appear in the regular uniform during the week.
  • Graduation 2023: Seniors and families, Commencement information is ready to go and was distributed a few weeks ago and posted to the Class of 2023 Band App.  Mr. Grant met with the Seniors in their Naval Science class to go over the Commencement Fee and ticket pricing information.  As a reminder, the Commencement fee and ticket pre-order should be paid by April 6th. On the DMA Events page, you can find all the important information about the ceremony, including rehearsal and timing, so check that out here: https://demilacad.org/dma-events/We look forward to this awesome evening celebrating your cadets’ accomplishments and we hope you are too! Please contact our Commencement Coordinator,  Grant@dma.k12.de.us, if you have any questions.
  • Every year, when the weather begins to warm up (like clockwork), the cadets begin to get a little spring fever. Please assist us by speaking with your cadet about staying the course and finishing the year strong. Since our assemblies, we have seen a decrease in negative behavior and intentional damage and we have acknowledged and thanked the cadets for handling themselves like mature young men and women.  We believe in reinforcing positive behavior and when our cadets are on point, they see the benefit of their positive choices.
  • BRAVO ZULU DMA cadets! I wanted to share this letter to show how significant and impactful our cadets are in the community. We have no doubt that any of our cadets would receive these type of accolades if placed in the same situation, because of the message we instill every day.

Good Morning Master Chief King,

I would like to take this time to thank you and the Cadets that assisted our function on February 11, 2023.  I was truly amazed at the performance and attitude that the Cadets exhibited while assisting us. From the time that they walked into the building until the time that they left I witnessed courtesy, friendliness, enthusiasm, and the qualities that I consider true to the values of military training. As they arrived, they checked the cleanliness and adherence to regulations of their uniforms. I must say that this impressed me and made my thoughts go to how serious that they were to accomplishing their goal. During the event they showed a quality of care and friendliness to the people of the event that was above and beyond what was requested of them. The detail that they all exhibited during the event was extraordinary. When the event was over and they had performed things that were not asked of them to do, that made the cleanup afterwards more than easy on the staff, they were drilling in the empty hall. I was flabbergasted to witness this as it brought back fond memories. Everyone involved in the event could not believe the enthusiasm and the amount of work that they performed. The Cadets that assisted were: Wyatt Hoffman, Ian Varnes, Louis Lopez, Conner Harrison, Christopher Thomas, Tucker Drury, Dasia Jones, Kendal Reid, Jack Dijiacomo, Arianna Gordon, Caitlyn Shannon, Wyatt Decubellis, Mira Mistry and Veronica Holena. In my viewpoint, If these Cadets are the future of our country, then we are looking at an extremely bright future. Words will never be able to express the gratitude and the impression that the Cadets displayed to the community. Thank you again for allowing the Cadets to assist with the event and would you pass along my thanks and gratitude to the Commandant.  ~ Ruben Kelly/ Nur Shrine Chief Rabban
