Get Ready for the New School Year

Good morning Seahawk Nation,

Okay, get yourself a beverage of choice, sit back, and please read and digest the ENTIRE contents of this email, so that we are on the same page to begin the year; which is, yes correct, August 31st!

To begin, we have adjusted our grading scale at DMA. This will more accurately reflect the scale that the majority of the schools across the country are utilizing, as well as provide a buffer to our online virtual learning platform. GPA’s will be recalculated using the new grading scale for all cadets actively enrolled at DMA. Please see the attached document that outlines DMA’s new grading system.

The new grading scale is as follows:

A: 90-100
B: 80-89
C: 70-79
D: 66-69
F: 65 or below

Distribution/Collection Day! DMA will be distributing and collecting various items on August 25th and 26th. Beginning with the Senior class on August 25th from 8:00 am to 11:00 am, we will be distributing Chromebooks, and any necessary textbooks, as well as collecting paperwork (See attachment for details). Please, open, print, and fill out ALL required paperwork in its entirety and bring it with you on your designated day and time. If you do not have access to a printer, we will have blank copies on-site for you to complete. You will be directed to a parking space to complete, and then get back in line for gear issue. The Junior class pick-up time is from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Sophomores’ distribution date is August 26th from 8:00 am to 11:00 am and our Freshman class will be broken into thirds. August 26th from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm will be cadets with the last name A-G. August 27th from 8:00 am to 11:00 am will be H-O and finally last name P-Z will be 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Freshmen, you will be receiving uniform articles, so this will be done indoors. You will be directed when to enter the building and when to move to the next station by an instructor. All you need to do is listen for instructions.

Anyone coming on to campus must wear a mask (remember, when you were not allowed in places covering your face? Lol…).

Any cadet who has books that still need to be returned, please do so on your designated pick-up day.

The attached paperwork also shows the cadets’ schedule or outline of when classes will be in session. We have provided a sample student to show when they are expected to be in class. Once we get underway, we will hold virtual grade level assemblies to go over expectations and the rules governing online behavior. Attendance is a key factor to success and will positively or negatively affect your grade, rank, and standing at DMA. Much more to follow regarding cadet expectations.

The completed paperwork is the key to a smooth distribution. We will be set up in stations and all you have to do is go to each station pick up the required items and be on your way. We also will have a tent set up for any cadet who has a question regarding schedules, forms, or general inquiries. Please see the attached diagram that shows the setup for distribution.

We anticipate HAC being open by Monday morning (August 17th) for Upperclassmen (Seniors, Juniors & Sophomores). Freshmen, you will receive your schedule, password, etc… on your distribution day.

Freshmen, we also will be scheduling a New Cadet Orientation night with you in the very near future. We are working on whether it will be live or pre-recorded. More to follow.

Finally, we know there will still be unanswered questions, but the good news is we are here to address and resolve them to the best of our ability. Work with us, communicate and we will make this new way of learning successful beyond what anyone could have imagined!

Stay strong Seahawk Nation and together we will overcome any and all obstacles.

Kind regards,
Anthony Pullella
Commandant
