BRAVO ZULU DMA & What You Need to Know

Good morning Seahawk Nation,

BRAVO ZULU to DMA and the NJROTC department for their completion of the Annual Military Inspection. While this year’s inspection was anything but normal, our cadets and Naval Science Instructors worked within the designed parameters and once again, in the words of CDR Miller (the Area 4 Manager), showed why “DMA is the “Flagship” of all NJROTC programs across the country”. Our Regimental Staff represented DMA in an exemplary, first-class manner. The Regiment’s preparedness and “can-do mindset” were supported with evidence and fact-based knowledge. Hats off to the NJROTC program and DMA as a whole. We have yet to be officially notified of our status, but based on the debrief, I would be stunned to see anything less than “Distinguished Unit with Academic Honors” (The highest rating a unit can earn). Once again, BRAVO ZULU DMA!

Here is your “Need to Knows” for this week:

  • Re-enrollment forms will be distributed March 1st to cohort A and March 3rd to cohort B. We will mail the forms home to all cadets who are virtual. We ask you return this form back to the main office no later than March 29th. We will reach out individually to cadets who may be in academic jeopardy of not returning.
  • DMA is looking for ways to safely increase the amount of time cadets are in the building as we move to the 4th marking period. We recognize that each family has their own feelings about the pandemic and what is right. We are trying to balance that feedback with our teacher safety, as well as the guidelines set forth by the CDC and the State of Delaware. In the coming days, you will receive a feedback survey to complete. This is NOT a selection of what you would like to do for the 4th MP – it is only feedback. We will use this as another data point, as we determine our next steps. We are asking that you fill out the survey one time for your family, regardless of how many cadets you currently have enrolled. Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback.
  • Save the date: DMA’s Annual Golf outing will be held June 18th at Odessa National. Those who have played in the past know just how good of a time it is and we look forward to another great outing again this year. We will be sending out information in the coming weeks on how to register, as well as some excellent sponsorship opportunities. The outing directly benefits the athletic program 100%, so our parents of athletes now is your time to shine!
  • Congratulations to our Drill Team who had the chance to compete over the weekend. Here are the results:
    • Varsity Color Guard – 1st place commanded by Cadet Joshua Gutzmirtl
    • Varsity Unarmed Platoon – 2nd place commanded by Cadet Giada MacNamara
    • Varsity Armed Platoon – 3rd place commanded by Cadet Jacob Botterbusch
    • Freshman Squad Drill – 2nd place commanded by Cadet Edward Orth
    • Freshman Color Guard – 2nd place commanded by Cadet Alexander Morgan. Overall – 2nd place for all events, C/ENS Joshua Gutzmirtl is the Drill Team Commander

Well done DMA Drill Team!
