Good morning Seahawk Nation!
Overall, an outstanding start to the morning and the school year! Traffic flow was smooth; cadets (minus a handful) are in compliance with uniform and grooming standards and for it being so early, enthusiastic, and ready to get underway!
Please check the DMA website later today for the updated bus routes. There have been changes to all of the routes, and they are effective immediately. Thank you for your patience as we work through any issues.
Here are a few calendar reminders as we venture into a new year:
- As we embark on our 20th year, DMA has found it fitting and appropriate to form a committee and create a Delaware Military Academy Hall of Fame. This prestigious club will honor and recognize individuals who have distinguished themselves in the fields of academics, athletics, military service or as a primary contributor to the overall success and growth of DMA during and/or beyond their years at Delaware Military Academy. Our first induction will be held on Friday, October 7th during halftime of our home football game. We will be sharing more information in the near future as to who the first inductees are, as well as the nomination form for future inductees.
- We will be conducting grade level assemblies this Thursday to review the Code of Conduct, the DMA handbook, the Zero Tolerance Policy and of course safety measures. Please take some time to review the handbook online and familiarize yourself with the regulations.
- This Friday, September 2nd and Monday, September 5th there is no school (Labor Day).
- Friday, September 9th at 9:00am, we will be honoring and remembering those who perished on September 11, 2001. We will share more details with you early next week.
- PSAT Administration for 11th grade: The PSAT NMSQT assessment is scheduled for October 12th at DMA. This assessment is for juniors who wish to have an additional opportunity to assess their readiness for the SAT’s (coming up in the Spring at DMA). The cost for this assessment is $20. Please submit payment to Mrs. Tocyloski in her office no later than September 12th to sign up for this assessment. If you/your cadet indicated interest last school year, please submit payment to confirm your spot! Please email her at amy.tocyloski@dma.k12.de.us if you have any questions.
- Schedule Changes: Any cadets wishing to alter their first or second semester class schedule should see Mrs. Tocyloski in her office (with teacher permission) this week. The opportunity to alter schedules will end on Thursday, September 1st. Mrs. Tocyloski’s office is on the second floor of McDonald Hall near Supply.
- A message from the PTA: Please join us for the first general PTA meeting of the school year! We will be meeting on Wednesday, September 14th at 6:30pm in the Mess Hall. We would love more folks to get involved, share some new ideas, and have some fun along the way! We also have two vacant committee chair positions waiting for a couple of enthusiastic people! As always, please refer to dmapta.net for all things PTA, such as membership information and the new Friday lunch menu/pricing.
- The DMA Choir will be singing the National Anthem Saturday, September 10th at Blue Rock’s Stadium. Visit the DMA website for more information.
We are really looking forward to a great year with the cadets and focusing on “Three P’s” Positivity, Patriotism and Perseverance. We hope to play a small part in assisting our cadets in believing in themselves, working together and molding the future leaders of tomorrow.
Kindly,
