Wrapping Up May!

Good morning Seahawk Nation,

Welcome to a short week and the Memorial Day weekend!  We are in the home stretch as our senior class is finishing out their last few days as cadets at DMA.  We wish the Class of 2022 nothing but success and happiness as they ready themselves for the next chapter in their young lives.

Here is your “Need to Know” report for the week:

  • Prom is this Thursday (May 26th) beginning at 7:00 PM at the Waterfall. Cadets not checked in by 7:45 PM will not be admitted. Attire for the event is tuxedos/suits for the gentlemen and gowns for the ladies.  Prom ends at 11:00 PM.
  • We took a contingent of cadets down to Dover last Thursday to support Charter schools and be a voice against some of the legislation attempting to be passed. Our cadets did a fantastic job and represented DMA and the charter community in a first-class manner.
  • There is a DMA Board meeting this evening at 6:00 PM in Talley Hall.
  • Yearly physical/ROTC forms for all Cadets: Please be aware that there is a new DIAA physical form that was just updated as of March 29, 2022. You can find the new form on the DMA website under the Sick Bay tab. Please make sure you take this form to your cadet’s annual physical appointment. This form is used even if your cadet does not play a sport. Also, the NJROTC Standard Release and Health Risk Screening form will be due in the first few weeks of school in the Fall. Please take the Health Risk Screening form to the appointment as well. Get it all filled out at once! These two ROTC forms are required every year for each cadet. These forms are also under the Sick Bay tab on the DMA website. If you have any questions, please contact Paige Dolan, RN at paige.dolan@dma.k12.de.us.
  • The DMA Music Department traveled to Sandusky, Ohio over the weekend to compete in a Music in the Parks Festival at Cedar Point! The cadets did an amazing job in performance and had enjoyed their time celebrating in the park. The Band brought home a first place trophy and the Choir brought home third, both scoring excellent marks with the judges.  Great job representing DMA as always!  Bravo Zulu!
  • From the Yearbook Staff: 2022 Yearbooks were distributed Friday during the ‘Revisit’ block to any cadet who preordered their yearbook.  As mentioned in the announcements on Friday, if you are still interested in purchasing a yearbook, on-site purchasing will open up today, to our Seniors only, before and after school or during the Mini Block from Ms. Perron in room TH-1.  Purchases will be available to include Underclassmen beginning Tuesday 5/24.   Books are $105.00 and can be purchased by cash or check made out to DMA Yearbooks. Yearbooks will be sold while supplies last on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis, so get your books while they last!

    • Congratulations to the Golf team who had a great showing at the DSAC Conference championship.

You would think a short week would marry up with a short report, but that clearly isn’t the case!  We hope you have a great week and a relaxing and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend!

Kindly,
Anthony Pullella
Commandant
